You’ve heard the saying, “This is the first day of the rest of your life!” Kind of obvious, don’t you think! What may not be so obvious is just how powerful that saying is when you really take it to heart. Each day is a type of new beginning when you pause daily and allow that to wash over you.
We wash our face each morning, right? How about washing your mind, and your heart, too? How do you want to show up today? Whose life do you want to have a positive influence on? What do you want to accomplish with the day that is given to you? This day will only last a relatively few hours, and then it’s gone. And there is another new day on the horizon. When you intentionally start each day with with a clean face, mind and heart, you are embracing a new beginning.
Ask yourself those three questions above and decide how to live today with purpose and intentionality. Accomplishing either a simple objective or a ginormous ambition, you will rest easier at the day’s end having fulfilled a desire.
Some days I just want to get to the store and prepare a nice dinner for the family. Other days I work hard to get another course finalized and ready for the website. And there are those days when what is needed is to work in the garden or take a long walk with Brandy, our adorable Labradoodle. Sure, I do more that just one thing in a day. However, I find my day is much more fulfilling when I do things on purpose. Life has so many priorities that they often compete with each other, making me feel anxious about getting it all done. When really, I just need to take one day at a time, engage in something that adds life in someway, and let tomorrow come for a new beginning.
This is the first day of the rest of your life! Engage it as a new beginning!
